Project Overview
The National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC), through its Arts, Culture, and Education (ACE) Committee, is seeking a Canadian-based web development partner to rebuild the Japanese Canadian Artists Directory (JCAD) website. The project aims to transform the current platform into a modern, accessible, scalable, and easy-to-manage artist directory that better showcases Japanese Canadian artists and strengthens community visibility and engagement.
Scope of Work (Requirements)
The selected vendor will be responsible for:
Website Design & UX
- Modern, accessible website redesign
- Improved navigation and user experience
- Mobile-responsive optimization
Platform & Development
- Rebuild using a modern CMS such as WordPress
- Reduce dependency on excessive plugins/custom code
- Scalable and maintainable architecture
Content Migration
- Migrate all artist profiles and existing content
- Maintain data structure and integrity
- SEO optimization where appropriate
Search & Directory Features
- Enhanced artist search and filtering
- Filters by medium, location, and keywords
- Direct artist contact functionality
- Faster and more relevant search results
Accessibility & Performance
- WCAG 2.1 accessibility compliance
- Fast-loading website with under 3-second target load times
