Project Overview

Stitch Buffalo, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a qualified web development partner to lead a full website redesign and rebuild. The primary goal is to support earned revenue growth and long-term sustainability while clearly telling Stitch Buffalo’s story and impact.

The new website will function as a digital storefront, service directory, community resource hub, and partnership portal—bringing together commerce, education, sustainability, and mission-driven storytelling in one cohesive platform.

Scope of Work (Requirements)

The selected vendor will be responsible for strategy, design, and development of a modern, scalable, CMS-based website, including:

Discovery & Strategy

  • Content review, user journeys, and information architecture
  • Alignment of site structure with revenue streams and mission impact

Design & UX

  • Mission-centered, accessible design (WCAG 2.1 AA compliant)
  • Mobile-first, intuitive user pathways (shop, attend, repair, reuse, partner)

Website Development

  • CMS-driven site with custom templates for:
    • Products (e-commerce)
    • Events and classes
    • Services (repairs and alterations)
    • Impact and storytelling content

Core Functionality

  • E-commerce storefront with secure payments, inventory, shipping, and tax management
  • Events and classes calendar with registration, payments, capacity limits, and waitlists
  • Service intake or booking workflows
  • Textile reuse hub (“Second Stitch”) for donations and resale information
  • SEO, analytics (GA4 or equivalent), and performance optimization

Implementation & Handover

  • Content migration from the existing site
  • Staff training and documentation
  • Recommendations for post-launch maintenance and enhancements
